| President
Bud opened our annual Christmas luncheon by welcoming all the officers
and club members in attendance. He thanked everyone for making the
day so special. The Christmas decorations and the food were outstanding.
We thank Len McCarron for playing Christmas songs on his banjo. You
did a great job Len. Thank you from all of us.
Our first order of business was a moment of silence for the passing of Jack Smith, Frank Kuni, and Francis Lynch. They will be sadly missed by all. Our trip to Lancaster on December 5th was very enjoyable. The dancing waiters put us in the Christmas spirit and the story of Christmas was a beautiful spectacular. We had a delicious Pennsylvania Dutch dinner. It was fantastic. Our ladies all received a gift as they left the bus when we arrived home. No wonder these trips sell out! Local 14 held its annual retiree’s Christmas party on December 10th. The food and the music were excellent and the performance by the Mummers was outstanding. Santa Clause paid a visit before he had to get back to the North Pole. All the ladies received a beautiful poinsettia. We congratulate all the officers and members for their time and effort in making this day so special for all of us. Congratulations to Edgar Chew on receiving his 50-year pin and a special pat on the back for Bill McCarron on receiving his 55-year pin. All retirees club officers were unopposed for 2001 so they will remain in office. Thank you from all club members for a job well done. If you are a retiree of Local 14 and not yet a member of our club, we invite you to join us. We meet the third Tuesday of every month. Our dues are 10.00 per year. Come out and meet some old friends and make some new ones. We will be planning our trips and outings for 2001 at our January meeting. If you have any suggestions, the committee would like to hear from you. If you cannot attend, drop us a line at the local 14 office. This year we made a total of fourteen trips and outings. This was our best year so far. Members on the sick list are; Tom Buhalo, Joe Pettit, John Waters, Charles Porter and Don Caton. We wish you well and a speedy return. We were all glad to see Jim Green at the retiree’s Christmas party. As we come to the end of our ninth year, we have eighty-three members in our club. Forty-five of our members are retired active. And they said it wouldn’t last. All members’ dues are due for 2001. Please send your $10.00 check to the Retirees club or see the Wizard at our next meeting. In closing, I would like to wish everyone a happy and health New Year. I would like to thank everyone who helped make everything so easy for me. |
