 President Bud Eiding opened our August meeting with a moment of prayer for the passing of William Monteith Jr.  Bill was a long time member of Local 14 and a friend of many. Our club historian, Ed Chew, presented us with another one of his outstanding reports. Ed gave the names of the forty members who attended our first meeting.  Twenty-three have passed away.  The majority of the seventeen whom are with us still come to our meetings.  Ed gave the names of all Local 14 members who were in the service during World War II.  If you missed this meeting, it was one of the most informative reports you ever heard.  Ed, we thank you for your time and effort in putting this report together.  You brought back so many memories.  A big thanks you from all of us.

2001 Trips and Events

   September 8th – Local 14 Annual picnic at Clementon Lake Park.  The fun will begin at 11:00 A.M. and will continue until 7:00 P.M.  The picnic is free to Local 14 members and their families.

 September 10th – Half day fishing trip on the Starfish out of Sea Isle City.  The boat will leave at 8:00 A.M. Lunch will follow at the Deauville Inn.  We are looking for a large turnout.  It’s the last day for flounder.

 September 25th to October 1st – Las Vegas trip.  Your tickets and trip information will be given out at our September 18th meeting.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, we will make arrangements to get them to you.

 September 28th – Mesothelioma Fund golf outing at Ashbourne and Melrose Country Clubs.  Money raised will help support the research to fight mesothelioma at Fox Chase Cancer Center.  Donation of $150.00 will include barbecue lunch, green fee, cart, and reception with open bar, dinner and prizes.  If you do not golf and would like to join us for dinner, the price is $50.00 per person.  If you are going, please call the Union Office before September 11th.
