| President
Bud opened our November meeting with a moment of silent prayer for the
passing of Charles Singer. He was a long time member of Local 14.
Our club historian, Ed Chew, gave another of his outstanding reports. As usual, it was excellent. We thank you Ed, for being a part of our meetings. We look forward to your reports each month. The following club
members were elected to office for 2002:
It’s a great honor to inform you that business manager Pat Eiding has been elected president of the Phila. AFL-CIO. Our hats are off to you Pat. We know from your devotion to Local 14 and its members that you will be successful in every part of your new position. Congratulations from all of us. The Annual Credit Union banquet was quite enjoyable. We would like to thank the Credit Union staff for such a wonderful time. They volunteer their time all year and deserve our thanks for making this organization such a success. Fishing trip report – We had our six-hour striper trip on the Starfish on November 12th. What a great turnout! The weather was just made to order. The wind died down and did we ever catch the fish! Someone asked Jimmie O why Chip Guller was using a chicken leg for bait. Jim replied “I think he’s trying to catch a mermaid.” Butch Casey caught a big shark and the mate who was taking the hook out said, “It looks a little like my first wife.” Who was the member fishing with his line out of the water? Lee said I think he’s trying to catch a flying fish. Not to brag, but I caught the biggest fish. It was a ten pound, 36 inch striper. How come we didn’t have a pool? We do every other trip. (Something fishy here) Chairman Larry Durham reported that we have 50 people attending our Tenth Anniversary Christmas luncheon. It will be held at the Rose Brier Caterers located on Frankford Avenue, two blocks south of Academy Road. Members are requested to bring a door prize. Dues for 2002 are due.
Please see the wizard at the January meeting.
