January 2002

President Bud opened our tenth Anniversary Christmas party with a moment of silent prayer for all our departed members and those on the sick list.

Bud then welcomed all the officers of Local 14 and the fifty-five people in attendance.

It’s hard to believe that we’re celebrating our tenth anniversary.  When the club was started, many were doubtful that it would last.  Thanks to the efforts of our members, we are the number one retirees club with sixty-nine dues paying members.

Our club historian, Ed Chew, was presented with a plaque for his outstanding reports at our meetings.  All of us thank you Edgar, and look forward to your exceptional reports in the future.

Charles Davis also received a plaque upon retiring after ten years as our club secretary.  Many thanks Charles from all of us.  He also received a roll of quarters.  This was a gift from the convention committee.  Word has it that he was last seen boarding a bus for Atlantic City.

We applaud Larry Durham and Jim McGee for putting the party together.  They did a great job.  All the ladies who attended the party received a Christmas gift from the club members.  Everyone had an enjoyable time and are looking forward to another ten years.

How about Joe Pettit attending our tenth anniversary party?  You look great Joe.  Welcome back.

On December 9th the Local 14 retiree’s Christmas party was held at the Kelly Ann Ballroom in Gloucester, N.J.  The food, dancing, fellowship and the presentation by the Mummers made for a fun time.  It was a great party and we, as retirees of this great local would like to thank all of you who helped make the day so memorable.  Hats off to Charles Seeberger, Pat Eiding and Steve Pettit who gave out pins to retirees for their years as members.  How about yours truly receiving a fifty year pin?  All the ladies received a beautiful poinsettia, compliments of Local 14.

Good to see pal Joey Porter at the retirees Christmas party.  You can’t keep a good man down.

If you are a retiree of Local 14, and not a member of our number one club, we urge you to join us.  Our meetings are held at the union hall on the third Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m.  Our dues are $10.00 per year.  If you live out of state you can be a member by sending your dues to Local 14 retirees club.

Attention all members:
Dues for 2002 are due.  Please see the wizard at our January meeting or mail your check to Local 14 retirees club.
