| President
Bud opened our meeting with a moment of silence for the passing of Edward
Hope, Bob Mitchell, and Al Judge. Since our last meeting, James Jackson
and James McGuigan passed away. They will all be sadly missed.
The membership welcomed our newest member Roland Johnson. We now have seventy-five dues paying members. Our trip to Baltimore Harbor and the Orioles ballgame was the best yet. The weather was perfect, as were our $35.00 field box seats compliments of Pete Angelos and Jim Good. We would like to thank Jim for making this yearly trip so outstanding. We are taking a full page in the mesothelioma golf fund raising ad book. This ad will list the names of our deceased members. Phila. A.F.L. CIO president Pat Eiding is making a great recovery from his quadruple by-pass surgery. Word has it that he is walking over a mile a day and making great progress. You can’t keep a good man down. Hurry back. We have been told that our Club historian Ed Chew will be giving another of his informative reports at our September meeting. Don’t miss this one. Did you see Charles Davis at the meeting? He looked like he just stepped out of Esquire magazine. He sure is looking good since Mary hit the big one at Delaware Park. Way to go Mary. A motion was passed at our August meeting that any member going on a trip or outing is required to put down a 25% deposit or a minimum of $10.00. There will be no exceptions. The membership would like to thank all those responsible for setting up the new meeting room for our August meeting. The room is a must see. There’s even a private entrance at the back of the building. A special thank you to the secretaries for setting up the refreshments. President Bud will be attending the International Convention at Hollywood, Florida from August 18th to 25th. We are sure to receive a full report at our September meeting. Have a great time Bud. A request was made for members to help on the mesothelioma fund golf outing. A list of our members who volunteered was turned into the Union Office. If you were not at the August meeting and would like to help, call the Union Office.
