December 2002

President Bud opened our November meeting with a moment of silence for the passing of Charles Porter.  He was a long time member of Local 14 and a friend of many.

The following members were elected to hold office for the year 2003:

President: Bud Eiding
Financial Secretary: Dick Reeves
Recording Secretary:  Lee Rothermel
Vice President: George Griggs
Vice President: Jim McGee
Sergeant at Arms: Larry Durham, Al Grimmie
Travel Chairman:  Goldy

As members, we know the club is in better hands than Allstate.

Suzanne Starker, a representative of Health Advocate, a world class personalized health service, was a guest at our meeting.  She showed us a slide presentation of all the services that are available to us.

She explained that their mission is to provide individuals with personalized, thorough and efficient assistance navigating and facilitating solutions to health problems.  After a question and answer session, applications were given out and those present signed up.

For further information call the union funds office.  Administrator Mike Burns can assist you with any questions you might have.

A big thank you to all the credit union officers for making the 35th anniversary dinner so outstanding.  We appreciate the time and effort you give each week to make our credit union one of the best.  How about the visit and show from Elvis Presley.

Get well wishes to Edgar Larson.  We hope you feel better soon.  We’re looking forward to seeing your smiling face.

We were glad to see pal Joey Porter at the meeting.  Looking good Joe

As we approach the Yuletide season,
I would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year.

I would like to thank all the ladies for the support they have given me over these years.  You have made it all so worth while.  This year we had fifteen trips and outings and you were there to take part in all of them.  I will continue to be as close to you as your husband allows.  I applaud all of you.  A special thank you to the secretaries in the funds office and the union office for all the help and support you give me throughout the year.  I couldn’t do it without you.  It’s a team effort to get 270 newsletters out each month.  Thanks to all of you.

2002 Trips and Events
If you and your lady are going to attend our Christmas luncheon at the Rose Briar Restaurant on December 3rd and your name is not on the list, please call Chairman Larry Durham at (856) 234-1785.  He needs the count for the caterer.

Local 14 will hold its annual retiree’s Christmas party on December 8th from 1:00 p.m.  to  5:00 p.m. at the Kelly Ann Ballroom in Gloucester City, N.J.

Following the Local 14 December membership meeting, sandwiches and other refreshments will be served.

Due to inclement weather, our yearly striper fishing trip was cancelled.  I wonder if they would have had a pool.

Don't forget to check "Dates to Remember" for dates and details on these and other events.
