July 2003

President Bud opened our May meeting with a moment of silence for the passing of International Vice President, George Snyder.  He will be sadly missed.

Jim Good and Jim Fitzgerald were our guest speakers.  Jim Good is the past business manager of Local 24 in Baltimore, Maryland and is now the representative for the law firm of Peter Angelos.  Jim Fitzgerald is the manager of the Philadelphia office of Peter Angelos.  After updating the members with the latest information pertaining to new laws the government is trying to pass that would affect insulators and their families, information was given to each member as to who to contact to stop these bills from going through.  We then had a question and answer period.  After all questions were answered, we then heard from our own member and president of the Philadelphia AFL CIO, Pat Eiding.  He also advised us of the laws that would surely hurt all Asbestos workers and their families.  He urged all of us to write to those who are responsible for the passing of these laws.  We thanked all of our guests for such an enlightening meeting.  All members left with a great deal of information.

Our good friend Jim Good has been responsible for Peter Angelos donating forty tickets to the Baltimore Oriole’s ballgame for the past six years.  We thank you Jim.

The membership welcomed our visiting members from Florida, Bob Durham and Walt McGee.  You guys look great.  Whatever you’re doing, keep on doing it.  We will be looking for you on your next visit.

It was good to see Ralph Carullo, Ray Boyce, Joe Fern and Bob Eiding.  No wonder we ran out of donuts.  Charles Davis had to stop at Wa-Wa.
