February 2007

EARLY QUIT NEWSLETTER...
President Bill Rothermel opened our meeting by wishing everyone a happy and safe new year and introducing our newest member, Bill Evans.

We have started our membership drive for 2007.  If you are a retired member of Local 14, we invite you to join us.  We meet the third
Tuesday of each month at the union hall at 10:00 A.M. Refreshments are served. Our dues are $15.00 per year.  If you cannot attend our meetings, we urge you to be a member by sending your $15.00 dues to Local 14 Retirees Club.  We need your support.  Thank you to all the widows who help support us by sending in their dues each year.

Our club historian, Bill McCarron, gave another of his great reports.  He read minutes from Local 14 meetings from 1955 and 1956 and some later years.  Bill brought back a lot of memories like 100 pound bags of cement and the starting of the vacation fund.  As usual, he did a good job.

The following members were elected for the year 2007:

President
Vice President

Financial Secretary
Recording Secretary
Sergeant of Arms

Bill Rothermel
Jim O’Driscoll
George Griggs
Dick Reeves
Lee Rothermel
Al Grimmie
Someone said “The club is in better hands than Allstate.”

We will be looking into various trips and outings.
If you have any suggestions for outings our members would enjoy, please let us know.

Did you see how good Rip Connelly looks?  How about Al Staehle? Did you notice he isn’t limping anymore since he took his money out of his shoe?  Al Grimmie looks wonderful.  Welcome home Al.

Strange things happen.  Bill Imperatore didn’t win the 50/50.  Better luck next time.  Ellis Coffey came right on time 11:00 A.M. Just in time for the 50/50 drawing.  Welcome Ellis.  Bill Cammann is looking younger than ever.  He and his wife moved to Quakertown and he still made the meeting.
