September 2007

EARLY QUIT NEWSLETTER...
Vice President Jim O’Driscoll, opened our meeting with a moment of silence for the safe return of our men and women serving our country and also for our members on the sick list.

Reports:
The reading of the minutes of our previous  meeting and the financial secretary’s report, were both accepted.

Business manager, Marty, came to our meeting and gave us a report on the international convention held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.  All officers ran unopposed and stay the same for this term.  Our delegates attended all meetings and sessions.  Local 14 was well represented.  The name of Asbestos Workers has been changed to Heat and Frost Allied Workers.  Thank you from all of us to the delegates for a job well done.  Word has it that the plane was a lot lighter on the way home.

Marty told us of the work that is being done in cities all around us by non-union workers and that if has become a problem.

Our club historian, Bill, gave another of this outstanding reports.  This one was on the year 1993 and brought back many memories. Bill, we thank you for the time you put into making your reports so enlightening.

Pal Joey Porter is in the Woodbury Mews Nursing Home.  I’m sure he would like to hear from you.  Charles Davis is doing well.  He says hello to everyone.

Don’t forget the change in our name as announced at the International convention.  We are now Heat and Frost Allied Workers.
